Roba Dolce Review...

ABCD Diaries
2010 Holiday Gift Guide:
Entertaining

We recently had the opportunity to try out some delicious gelato from Roba Dolce.
About Roba Dolce:
"Roba Dolce, a leading producer of authentic premium Italian gelato and sorbetto, has created a line of products that not only taste delicious, but provide a healthier alternative to most ice cream. Roba Dolce gelato consists of only 8 percent butterfat compared to super premium ice creams, which contain anywhere from 14 to 18 percent. Roba Dolce uses fresh, whole milk rather than cream as its primary ingredients, while pumping less air by volume (overrun) into every batch. Using family recipes passed down from generation to generation and following the old world artisanal approach of an authentic Florentine gelato master, this gourmet dessert offers a bold, intense flavor that stays on the palate longer.

While gelato is their founding product, Roba Dolce pours an equal amount of pride and care into the creation of their sorbetto - an all-natural, dairy-free, fat-free, sodium-free and cholesterol-free frozen treat. Roba Dolce sorbetto is produced using an all-natural stabilizer that results in a unique and ultra-creamy texture, which is unrivaled by others in the market.
"I was raised in a traditional Italian family and grew up eating authentic, homemade gelato that is difficult to find in America," said Roba Dolce founder and CEO Matthew Olerio. "I founded Roba Dolce because I wanted to create the kind of traditional, high-quality gelato that even the most discerning gourmet Italians will love. We have developed a product that will give people the chance to experience the deliciousness of gourmet gelato and sorbetto, without having to go to Italy."
Consumers are now embracing the time-tested recipes Roba Dolce uses to create their gelato and sorbetto. From servicing just five local Rhode Island supermarkets in 2006, Roba Dolce has transcended into one of the leading suppliers of gelato and sorbetto in the world. Roba Dolce now provides gelato and sorbetto to more than 7,000 supermarkets and is expanding its distribution beyond the United States into areas such as Taiwan and South America.

For decades, ice cream has been an American staple and a dessert loved by just about everyone, but with growing concerns surrounding the issue of obesity in America, consumer expectations have shifted. Ice cream manufacturers have expanded their product lines to include reduced-, low- and no-fat ice creams, no-sugar-added and sugar-free ice creams and frozen yogurts. While these new product variations can offer a healthier option, they often lack the taste and satisfaction that consumers crave.
Roba Dolce gelato and sorbetto products are available in a variety of flavors and packaged in 1 liter ($4.99) and 900 milliliter ($3.99) containers as well as single serve cups ($1.25).

What we thought:
Mmmmm...Roba Dolce is everything you could ask for in a true Itaslian gelato...smooth and creamy with little bits of tasty fruit , nuts or chocolate. This gelato is pure melt-in-your-mouth bliss:) We tried several varieties. My personal favorites were coconut and pistachio. The kiddos loved the fruity varieties of lemon, raspberry and mango. Tere wasn't a single member of our family who disliked any of the flavors we reviewed:) I love the idea of using gelato in holiday entertaining recipes and menus. Both of the above recipes would be perfect to serve as dessert drinks at your holiday gathering this year:) ABCD Diaries gives Roba Dolce an A+!
