Seasoned Pinto Beans with Vidalia Onions

Hoppin John with Vidalia Onions

What we thought: We are big fans of Allens canned veggies and beans! We had never tried either of the varieties we were sent to review, but we pleasantly surprised by both of them:) We love pinto beans and we usually either cook them from scratch or season up a can of Trappey's. I was so excited to find a pre-seasoned variety from Allens! This really makes things a lot easier for those meals when we're short on time and don't have the luxury of slow cooking our own beans on the stove for hours. I am not really a huge fan of black eyed peas, though the rest of the family loves them. The Hoppin' John made me reconsider my dislike of the black eyed pea:) Again, they were wonderfully spiced, very flavorful and quite savory! Both can of beans tasted as if we had made them fresh and weren't squishy and soggy like some canned beans we've tried. Allens veggies are the perfect compliment to every meal. If you are looking for a quick, easy side dish without sacrificing flavor, check out the huge line of canned and frozen goods from Allens! ABCD Diaries gives Allens veggies an A+!
