Introducing Teaching Textbooks 3.0...A Homeschooling Must-Have + Giveaway!!

*DISCLOSURE* Thank you to Teaching Textbooks for providing product samples in order to facilitate this post.  All thoughts are strictly my own.

We've been homeschooling for nearly seven years now and finding a reliable math curriculum that doesn't leave the kiddos or myself in tears has been a challenge.  Our math journey was a bumpy one for the first four years, trying curriculum after curriculum, wasting time and money and slowly losing my mind in the process.  Then we heard about Teaching Textbooks, we bought our first set of CDs and have never looked back!  Seriously, math has become smooth sailing with Teaching Textbooks, even getting my self-proclaimed "math hater" to look forward to doing math each day.

We have been completely in love and content with Teaching Textbooks 2.0 and when we heard there was a new version we jumped at the opportunity to try it out!  Teaching Textbooks 3.0 is the same amazing program, but it's all online.  No need to keep up with loose CDs or worry about careless kiddos scratching or breaking the discs.  It's pretty much the same as Teaching Textbooks 2.0 material-wise, but with some pretty sweet upgrades.

Set up couldn't be easier, just put in your kid's name, age and password and your good to go.  Then they get to do the fun stuff like picking out the perfect background from a great list of options and browsing the extensive Buddy section to find their perfect match.  If you aren't familiar with Teaching Textbooks, Buddies cheer the student on and provide encouragement along the way.  My kiddos were super excited to find so many new Buddies to choose from and have had a lot of fun trying out different ones each day.

Parents have the ability to change the "Hint" and "Second Chance" features, but these are two of my favorite things about Teaching Textbooks, so we left them on.  I have a perfectionist who absolutely loses it when he gets a problem wrong, so having the second chance to find and fix his mistake saves both of us from major day-ruining meltdowns.

Another awesome feature of Teaching Textbooks 3.0 is the ability to access the program remotely, which is great when the kiddos are doing school during my work hours.  If they need help with a question, need me to edit or delete answers or I need to check grades, I can access their accounts without having to even get up from my computer.  Nice!

I also love that Teaching Textbooks offers permanent grade storage.  We have lost grades twice using the 2.0 version, once when the computer crashed and again thanks to Hurricane Harvey.  Even if you aren't using the program any longer, you can access past grade books to get info for transcripts or record-keeping purposes.

Each 12 month subscription also allows for 90 days' worth of pause time. You may activate the pause any time you choose, but you must use at least 7 days of pause time before unpausing.  We school year-round, but this is great for when we take a week of here and there for vacation, hosting company or the holidays.

As I mentioned earlier, the academic content is the same as the 2.0 curriculum and includes over 100 hours of multimedia instruction.  The physical books have been replaced by eBooks.  3.0 works on ALL desktops and laptops, and it will even work on flash-enabled tablets and smartphones (check the TT website to confirm your device will work)

Phew!  Those are all of MY favorite things about Teaching Textbooks 3.0, but it's also super important that the student loves it too.  Find out what my kiddos thought about their experience with Teaching Textbooks 3.0:

12 year-old A, Algebra

Favorite part of 3.0:

"I love all the backgrounds and buddy characters.  Customization is my jam."

Preference of 2.0 or 3.0:

"No question, 3.0"

9 year-old D, Math 7

Favorite part of 3.0:

"You don't have to find the discs to do Math and I don't have to share my laptop with A anymore."  (A uses a Chromebook which has internet capability, but no disk drive.)

Preference of 2.0 or 3.0:

"3.0 big time"

As you can see, 3.0 was a huge hit with both kiddos and we will be sticking to it.  Yay for Teaching Textbooks!

Pricing:

Math 3, Math 4 and Math 5 are each $43.08 for a 12-month subscription which works out to  $3.59 per month

Math 6 and Math 7 are each $55.08 for a 12-month subscription which works out to  $4.59 per month

Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Geometry, Algebra 2 and Pre-Calculus are $67.08 for a 12-month subscription which works out to $5.59 per month

And check out this great news for families with 4 or more students:

The Teaching Textbooks™ 3.0 Large-Family

Discount Plan

Complete Program: 12-Month Subscription for 4-8 Students: $199.08

(which works out to only $16.59 per month!)

Harley absolutley inhales this stuff and because we weer originally using it as a food topper, she was selectively eating just the RawNibs and not her kibble.  We decided a more fun way to give this food to her would be as a treat in her KONG toy:

She has a blast getting every last piece out!  We've noticed a smoother coat and more regular stools since starting her on RawNibs two weeks ago, both are great benefits!

Challenger Sports: British Soccer Camp Brings Fun and Skills to Summer! @usfg

*DISCLOSURE* Thank you to Challenger Sports and USFamilyGuide for providing product samples in order to facilitate this post.  All thoughts are strictly my own.

British Soccer Camps are the most popular soccer camp in the US. With an innovative curriculum that develops skills, speed and confidence in players ages 3-18, The British Soccer Camp provide boys and girls with the rare opportunity to receive high-level soccer coaching from a team of international expert's right in the heart of their own community. In addition to teaching new skills and improving game performance, each British Soccer Camp provides lessons in character development, cultural education and is the most fun your child can have learning the sport they love!

9-year-old D got to try out Challenger's British Soccer Camp this summer and he absolutely loved it!  Signing up was a breeze and the camp comes with a free t-shirt and soccer ball handed out day one of camp.  There were about 25 kids signed up for camp this year and we got 3 amazingly energetic and upbeat coaches, Elliot from the UK, Diarmuid from Ireland and Vitor from Brazil.

Every day, the 3 hour half-day camp consisted of warm-ups and soccer drills with campers being split up into 3 age groups, one group  to each coach.  Drills were about 2 minutes each with plenty of water breaks (a must in our ridiculously hot and humid Texas coast weather:)  Then after a group snacktime where the older and younger kiddos got to combine for fun stories and jokes from the coaches, the 3 groups formed 4 mixed teams for daily "World Cup" mini games, giving plenty of time for campers to try out their newly learned skills.  Each team picks a country and throughout the week they are given "homework" that encourages them to learn more about their country and share with the group on the following day.  What a fun way to get the kiddos thinking and communicating!

The week is finished up with a closing ceremony celebration where the coaches hand out certificates with encouragement for their campers and the winners of the "World Cup" are crowned.

Throughout the entire week the kiddos were given excellent instruction and plenty of praise to keep their spirits high.

D is already asking if we can sign him up for British Soccer Camp next year!  That's a sure sign of a great experience:)
