#MothersDayGiftGuide: Give Your Mom a Year-Round Hug with a Magic Weighted Blanket! #spon

*DISCLOSURE* Thank you to Magic Weighted Blanket for providing product samples in order to facilitate this post.  All thoughts are strictly my own.

Weighted blankets are becoming very popular these days thanks to the variety of benefits they provide their users.  Magic Weighted Blanket was the original inventor of these type of blankets over 20 years ago.  Weighted blankets, like The Magic Blanket™ , have shown to generate proprioceptive  input on our bodies.  For many people, this input causes the brain to release neurotransmitters like serotonin, dopamine,  among others.  These neurotransmitters released by the brain have naturally calming effects, which have proven to be beneficial for people experiencing sensory integration disorder, anxiety, stress, Asperger's Syndrome, ADHD, and Rett Syndrome.

These blankets are like a nice hug and who wouldn't benefit from that? Typically, you choose the weight of your blanket based on your weight. 10% of your body weight is the general recommendation.  For adults not on the autism spectrum, Magic Weighted Blanket offers the Magic Blanket Lite, which measures 48x78-inches and weighs 14 pounds. It is designed to provide a medium amount of pressure on the body, providing a person with a gentle and relaxing hug without the deep pressure input found in their regular weighted blankets.  This is the blanket we reviewed hoping it would help with anxiety and stress-relief.

Let's talk about the features of all Magic Weighted Blankets and then I'll tell you about my personal experience with the Lite blanket.

You get to customize everything about your blanket.  First, choose between luxurious and sumptuously soft chenille or minky, cool and comfortable cotton or cotton flannel or warm and cozy fleece.  Then choose your weight and size.  They are great about creating the perfect blanket for every customer.  The blankets are made in the United States with an inner liner and an outer layer.  There are no visible seams, giving the blanket a smooth and elegant look.  They use a one piece blanket design with duvet cover securely sewn onto the inner liner, making the Magic Blanket more durable and easy to wash and use than blankets with removable covers.

The  inner liner is made from cotton and constructed with two panels that form the quilted squares in which they place the poly pellets.  This keeps the weight evenly dispersed.  (They only use 100% new, BPA-free, non-toxic, hypo-allergenic polypropylene pellets inside Magic Weighted Blankets.) Then they cover the inner liner with the outer layer, so you don't see any stitching.  When ready to wash, the entire blanket goes into the washer and dryer.  Easy peasy!  It usually only takes them 3 days or less to make your blanket, so you get it super quickly after ordering.

I was pretty impressed with how comfortable this blanket was.  It really is soothing and relaxing.  It took a little while to get used to sleeping the whole night with it...occasionally during the first few nights, it got a little overwhelming.  After about three or four days, it proved to help me fall asleep more quickly and feel more rested upon waking.  That's a win for me:)  I've found both kiddos snuggling under it several times, so I'm guessing they love it too!

Need another reason to choose Magic Weighted Blanket?   This amazing company has committed to donating a blanket to a veteran in need for every ten blankets sold.  As the wife of a veteran, I am all for companies who support returning vets.

Bottom line:  If you want to gift Mom the gift of a relaxing and comforting night's sleep for years to come, check out the Magic Weighted Blanket!
